Visiting the Loo at the Olympics

Week 1 of the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London are underway. To prepare for the thousands of athletes, coaches and spectators visiting the UK for the Games, the Olympic committee had to think of everything; and that includes plumbing! It is said that there are as many as 10,000 temporary toilets located in and around the Olympic Village in London. There are also some innovative, "green" methods in place to help deal with the increased need for plumbing capacity. For instance, the pool water used to clean the filters in the Aquatic Center is reused to flush the facility's toilets. Waste not, want not

What if there were a toilet that could process waste, turn it into energy and still be energy-efficient? Such a fantasy might be closer to a reality thanks to a team of scientists in Singapore!
